|
"The Full Monty" producer Uberto Pasolini's directorial debut, "Handball," about a group of Sri Lankans who plot to illegally migrate to Europe has completed filming and is currently in editing. Pasolini, an experienced producer and former Assistant Director, co-wrote his film with acclaimed Sri Lankan playwright Ruwanthie de Chickera. Prasanna Vithanage functions as co-producer on the project. The story concerns a group of 23 working class Sri Lankans who fake a handball team in order to start new lives in the West. Pasolini is currently editing the film in London and hopes to have it complete for a Christmas release in Sri Lanka. The movie largely features a cast of relatively unknown actors from the stage and screen, including Dharmapriya Dias, Gihan de Chickera, Sujeewa Priyalal and Dayadeva Edirisinghe. Veteran actors Mahendra Perera, Hemasiri Liyanage and Lankan screen legend Malani Fonseka also have roles in the movie.
